Day 1 (16 Jul 2023): Arrival to Dar es Salaam

Welcome to Tanzania! After meet-and-greet upon your arrival to Dar es Salaam International Airport, go and feel the vibrant energy of African metropolis on our city tour. Our entertaining and smiley local guide will take you on a walk to explore the city’s must-see attractions.

Visit Mwenge Woodcarvers Market, step back in time at the Old Boma, admire the stunning architecture of Azania Front Church and jaw-dropping urban contrasts at local Kivukoni fish market and at Twin Towers, the modern tallest buildings of the city.

Finally, enjoy a delicious seafood dinner at a vibrant spot with live music. With a population of almost 8 million people, and a sea port that serves as a vital gateway for international trade in East and Central Africa, Dar es Salaam is one of the continent’s biggest cities. Day 2 (17 Jul 2023): Dar es Salaam

Wake up and greet the day! After breakfast you will get into the boat for a 40-minute trip to your today’s getaway on a desert island. Mbudya Marine Reserve is a protected marine area located off the coast of Dar es Salaam. It is known for its crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and diverse marine life. The reserve covers an area of approximately 20 sq km and is home to a variety of fish, corals, turtles, and other marine creatures.

Relax on the beach, swim in the clear waters, and explore the coral reefs by snorkeling (or scuba diving, by prior arrangement). Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch and other local delicacies. Experience the beauty of Tanzania’s marine environment and enjoy a day of relaxation on a tropical island.

Day 3 (18 Jul 2023): Dar es Salaam – Morogoro

Start your day with a road trip to Moshi, a town at the foothills of Uluguru Mountains, one of the most beautiful and pristine mountain ranges in Tanzania. 

You will embark on a quite challenging yet rewarding hike to Choma waterfallThe trail winds through dense forests, and as we ascend higher, we will witness panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Upon reaching Choma waterfall, you will take a break to appreciate the breathtaking beauty of this natural wonder. Take the chance to dip yourself in its refreshing water.

Later on, resume the hike towards the Morningside building, perched on a hilltop. The building has a rich history and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Enjoy the scenery and a delicious picnic lunch, prepared by our guides.

This hiking offers an opportunity to spot a variety of bird species, monkeys, and other wildlife which are endemic to the region.

Day 4 (19 Jul 2023): Morogoro – Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, get into your safari jeep and prepare yourself to experience the thrill of game drive in Mikumi National Park. About 2 hr 15 min of drive on the good tarmac road will bring you to the home of abundant wildlife.

With a good network of tracks, you’ll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with buffalo, giraffe, eland, elephant, leopard, lion, which are just a few of the big game species you can expect to encounter.

You will not leave the park territory until tomorrow: immerse yourself even deeper into the wilderness with a memorable overnight experience in Mikumi Banda, located in the heart of Mikumi National Park amidst the wild nature. At night, you will be surrounded by the sounds of wildlife while you rest peacefully in your cabin.

Day 5 (20 Jul 2023): Mikumi National Park – Masai village – Dodoma

Start your morning in the African bush with a morning game drive in Mikumi National Park. Witness the spectacular awakening of nature and marvel at the beauty of the numerous park residents in their natural habitat.

As noon approaches, you will depart from the park and embark on a cultural journey to Masai village at the border of Mikumi National Park. Our local Masai guide will walk you into their friendly and remarkable life and vibrant culture. Experience the famous jump dance, visit traditional houses, and learn about their daily life and traditions. As a gesture of gratitude for their hospitality, we suggest purchasing their handmade beadwork souvenirs made by hardworking Masai women. Not only will this be a meaningful way to support them, but it will also serve as a cherished keepsake of your unforgettable journey.

After the tour, our driver will take you on a road trip to Dodoma, the official capital of Tanzania. Enjoy your stop for a hot lunch in Morogoro, and take in the authentic views of the countryside along the way. Arrive in Dodoma in the evening, enjoy your dinner, and get a good night’s rest before the next leg of your adventure tomorrow.

Day 6 (21 Jul 2023): Dodoma – Kondoa – Dodoma

We will have an exciting day tour from Dodoma to Kondoa District, where you’ll discover one of Tanzania’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the impressive Kondoa Rock Art. Begin your adventure with a drive through the countryside of the central Tanzania, where you’ll immerse yourself in the local culture. This is one of the most “off-the-beaten track” destinations of your journey. Upon arrival in Kondoa, get ready for an unforgettable hiking experience to the rock art site. Along the way, our knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights into the area’s rich history and culture. You will be amazed by the stunning display of ancient rock paintings and engravings, dating back thousands of years. Admire the intricate details and vivid colors of these remarkable artworks and let your imagination run wild as you learn about their meanings and symbolism. Day 7 (22 Jul 2023): Dodoma – Chamwino Ikulu – Dodoma Airport – Zanzibar, Stone Town

Your trip continues to be an eye-opening experience, as today you involve yourself in the vibrant and exciting atmosphere of the Cigogo Music Festival. This unique festival celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Tanzania through the art of music.

The Cigogo music festival showcases the vibrant creativity of Wagogo, a local tribe from the Dodoma region where the event takes place. In addition to the amazing local talent, the festival attracts cultural groups from across the country, resulting in a diverse array of rhythms, melodies, dances, and costumes.

As you enter the festival grounds, you’ll be greeted by the infectious rhythms and beats of local musicians, as they perform traditional music on a variety of instruments, including drums, flutes, and stringed instruments. Dance along with the lively crowds and feel the energy of the music as it fills the air.

Take a moment to explore the festival grounds and discover the many vendors selling traditional crafts, artwork, and delicious food. In the late afternoon, filled with the memories of the incredible Cigogo Music Festival, you will return to Dodoma. Our driver will drop you at Dodoma Airport where you will catch your evening flight to Zanzibar (tickets are included, but please keep in mind that sometimes their prices are subject to change by the airline). Time for some quality beach time, and not just that!

Day 8 (23 Jul 2023): Stone Town – Fumba – Stone Town

  • Activities: Safari Blue (ocean cruise)

Long awaited Zanzibar time! Embark on a luxurious Safari Blue adventure, the ultimate excursion to experience the turquoise waters, stunning marine life and coral reefs of the Menai Bay Conservation Area.

Hop aboard a traditional dhow boat and set sail to pristine snorkeling spots where you’ll encounter a diverse range of marine species. Swim among colorful tropical fish and vibrant corals in the crystal-clear waters. Snorkel and discover the life beneath the surface.

The adventure continues with a visit to a sandbank where you can indulge in a sumptuous seafood feast while admiring the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Discover another heavenly island with an impressive ancient baobab tree, and take in the stunning views of the Indian Ocean’s mangrove forests. Finally, indulge in a delicious feast of the freshest seafood and taste a variety of Zanzibar tropical fruit.

At the end of the day, watch the sunset from one of the city’s panoramic viewpoints to celebrate a truly gorgeous day at the ocean!

Day 9 (24 Jul 2023): Stone Town – Zanzibar North

  • Activities: “3 in 1” excursion: Stone Town, Prison Island, Nakupenda Sandbank
Continue to explore the secrets of Zanzibar. Today we offer you an opportunity to visit the most iconic landmarks of Zanzibar.

First, get ready for an exciting boat ride to Prison Island, inhabited by giant land Seychelles tortoises. You can feed them with leaves from your hand and even pet them. The island is also home to peacocks, fluffy pigeons, and dwarf antelopes – duikers. Our guide will tell you about the unusual history of this small island and the origin of its name.

Next, you’ll sail to the “disappearing island” of Nakupenda, which is completely hidden under water during high tide. You’ll arrive here during low tide to enjoy snorkeling, white sandy beaches, turquoise oceans, and to take amazing photos. The highlight of the day is a picnic lunch, freshly prepared on the grill on Nakupenda sandbank, with Tanzanian dishes, seafood, fruits, and drinks.

As the evening approaches, you’ll dock back in Stone Town and wander through the narrow streets of the “heart of Zanzibar” – the old Stone Town, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll see pre-colonial architecture, local restaurants, Zanzibar street food, colorful markets, narrow streets, famous carved doors of Zanzibar, visit souvenir shops and jewelry stores with precious and unique Tanzanite stones, admire colorful paintings by Zanzibari artists, learn about the history of the slave trade, see the childhood home of Freddie Mercury.

At the end of the day, our driver will take you to your beach hotel in the blissful north coast of Zanzibar.

Day 10 (25 Jul 2023): Zanzibar North 

  • Activities: Beach Time; Sea Turtles Aquarium and Sunset Cruise (optionally)

Spoil yourself on the pristine white sandy beach of Nungwi and enjoy some leisure time at your own pace.

In the afternoon, join us for a visit to the Sea Turtles Aquarium in Nungwi, which is only about 15 min away from your accommodation. Witness the gentle grace of these creatures up close as you swim, feed and interact with them.

As the day comes to an end, step aboard an authentic Sunset Cruise along the stunning Nungwi coast. Admire the views of the turquoise waters, white beaches, and lush greenery as you sail into the horizon. Sip on refreshing drinks, taste delicious snacks, and watch in awe as the sky transforms into a fiery canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples during the magical sunset. This is the perfect way to end your day in paradise!

Day 11 (26 Jul 2023): Zanzibar North or East Coast

Optional East Coast Excursion

In Jozani Forest National Park, you’ll meet the endemic red colobus monkeys, gentle and intelligent creatures that only eat vegetation and won’t annoy visitors. Watch as they interact and care for their young, and marvel at their social behavior. The Jozani flora is also impressive: from the dense fairy-tale jungle with giant ferns and lianas to the mangroves with wooden bridges between the trees standing in the water.

On the east coast of Zanzibar, local ladies engage in an unusual form of aquaculture – cultivating seaweed. You’ll visit a seaweed farm on your way to a delicious lunch at an excellent restaurant and see the women take care of their underwater plantations, singing songs, and making products from the seaweed. Don’t forget your aquashoes for this excursion.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant on Paje beach, the beach renowned for its excellent kitesurfing opportunities.

The Kuza Cave is your next destination of this special tour. Crystal-clear lake over 2 meters deep covers this entire “secret” cave. The gentle turquoise color of the water and these “decorations” of stalactites and stalagmites will amaze you. Bring your snorkeling mask and explore this sacred place beneath the surface.

Day 12 (27 Jun 2023): Zanzibar North – Zanzibar Airport

If time allows, spend the final morning on the beach at your leisure. Our driver will collect you from the hotel reception and depart to Zanzibar International Airport to arrive there in time for check-in to your flight.

Tipping your driver guide is a common practice and shows appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
All hotels in Zanzibar charge a  new infrastructure tax of $5 per person per night. According to Zanzibar’s tourism division policy, this has to be paid by the guests directly at the hotel’s reception at the time of check-in, and can not be prepaid by a tour operator on behalf of it’s guests.
