Udzungwa Mountains near Mikumi is a national park famous for its endemic flora and fauna species and a home to the most spectacular waterfall in the country.
You won’t also miss an opportunity of cultural interaction with Masai people, for their authentic boma is bordering Mikumi, where they live in peace and harmony with wild park’s inhabitants.

 

Your Safari to Mikumi National Park, Udzungwa and Masai Boma:

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park

  • Driving distance: 308 km
  • Driving time: 6.5-7 hrs
  • Activities: En-route Game Viewing; Game Drive

Welcome to Tanzania! We will pick you at your location in Dar es Salaam by our 4WD safari vehicle and drive southwest, to Mikumi. The trip will take roughly 7 hours. You will have a stop for buffet lunch in Morogoro.

Split into two parts by Tanzam Highway, Mikumi National Park offers you a chance of game viewing even before you actually enter the park gate. Animals often cross the highway or feed by the road. Featuring scenic landscapes, few visitors and abundance of species, Mikumi is sure to become one of your most memorable destinations.
Enter Mikumi National Park for a Game Drive for the rest of the day. After a game drive, our driver guide will drop you off in your lodge for shower and a short rest before dinner.

Enjoy your dinner in the restaurant near the lodge. After dinner spend some time near the bonfire, feel free to order extra drinks and exchange your travel stories and impressions from the first day of your safari. Being under the African sky in the middle of savannah is captivating, but try to depart to bed for an early wake up next morning.

Day 2: Mikumi National Park – Masai Boma – Mikumi village

  • Activities: Game Drive; Masai tribe excursion

Wake up for an early morning game drive, which will last till afternoon with breaks for breakfast and lunch. In total, you will have between 22-24 hours spent inside Mikumi national park, to make the most of your game drive experience.

Exit the park and proceed to the real settlement of Masai tribe (or Masai boma, as they call it), where you will immerse yourself in daily life of one of the brightest ethnic groups in Africa.
Enjoy a well-deserved dinner, and call it a day in your authentic lodge.

Day 3: Mikumi village – Udzungwa Mountains – Dar es Salaam

  • Driving distance: 380 km
  • Driving time: 8-8.5 hrs
  • Activities: Hiking; Swimming in the waterfall

Have an early breakfast in your lodge, and our driver guide is waiting to take you to a new destination: Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Hike to Sanje waterfall with em-route walking safari with the park ranger, where you will have the opportunity to spot endemic flora and fauna of Udzungwa, including rare primates, such as shy black and white colobus, and swim in the mighty and refreshing waterfall.

Picnic lunch will be served for you in the beautiful viewpoint overlooking the valley of central Tanzania. This region is famous for its fertile soil and especially sugar cane plantations.

Return to Dar es Salaam by late evening with a short stop in Morogoro. Say good-bye to your driver guide as he drops you off in a hotel of your choice or in Dar es Salaam airport.
